Where It All Began

Origin
In the mid-1990s, Ramesan Doraisami earned an LLB with Honours from the University of London and began his career in the legal profession. But the pull of entrepreneurship was stronger. He soon transitioned into a boutique business consultancy serving SMEs in Malaysia — his first foray into the world that would define his life’s work
By 1999, he had embarked on a diverse entrepreneurial journey spanning hospitality, property, and consulting across New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Over the next decade, he built a seven-figure portfolio, establishing himself as a hands-on business leader with deep operational capability.
The Earthquake
On 22 February 2011, a devastating earthquake struck Christchurch, New Zealand. In minutes, Ramesan’s businesses, property, and financial security were reduced to rubble. The life he had spent a decade building was gone.
What followed was not a smooth recovery. In the chaos of the aftermath, Ramesan made a hasty decision to enter the coffee import and export trade — an industry he had no experience in. The venture failed, compounding the losses from the earthquake. It is an episode he speaks about with striking candour, calling it one of the most expensive lessons of his career.
But these twin crises — the natural disaster and the failed pivot — became the crucible in which his philosophy was forged. He emerged with an unshakable conviction: catastrophe may be inevitable, but preparedness is optional. How you build your foundations before the storm determines whether your business survives it.
The Rebuild
By late 2013, Ramesan had relocated to the United Kingdom and founded Azalea Ventures, a boutique advisory and investment vehicle. Over the following years, he established the LCL Group (which would later win Best Hospitality Business Development Consultancy in Greater London), the Azalea Wealth Group, and several other holding entities — all built on the principles he had learned through loss.
In 2022, he co-founded the Entrepreneur Success Foundry with Nandita Brahmbhatt, creating a dedicated platform to share his methodology with the next generation of founders. That same year, he received his first Outstanding Leadership Award at the Education 2.0 Conference in Dubai — an invitation he would receive again in 2024, when he returned as a keynote speaker.
In 2026, he published Unshakeable Rise: Setbacks Don’t Define You. Your Comeback Does — a book that became a bestseller in four Amazon categories and earned unanimous five-star reviews for its honesty and practical depth.
